YOU GUYS. There is no question that the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children trilogy is one of my favorite YA series. In fact, I even convinced my school’s freshman English teacher to include Miss Peregrine in his summer reading assignment. You can read all about my love for this series in this post.
I’ve been SO EXCITED about the Miss Peregrine’s movie coming out later this month…but I was even more ecstatic when I heard that author Ransom Riggs and his wife author Tahereh Mafi would be in Cincinnati last week. That’s about a 2-hour drive for me, but an easy 2 hours if it meant meeting them! And wow was it worth it–Ransom is funny, quirky, and wise and Tahereh is absolutely lovely. They would be the perfect dinner party guests! I left that night with this bag of goodies–
See the autographed library cards at the top? I have a collection of over 100 signed library cards!
–and an even bigger love for their books!
In honor of the Miss Peregrine movie, I recently put together an outfit inspired by the series. My dear friend Hannah from My Dearly Beloved Photography snapped some photos of me reading Miss Peregrine near an old, whimsical theater.
Isn’t this background so cool?!
I wanted a 1940-ish outfit with a fun vibe. Miss Peregrine is unique and confident so that’s what I wanted to portray, too. I chose a black-and-white scheme to match the cover of the books.
“Forever After” is the perfect expression for this book series. The main characters live in a time loop with a seemingly endless life. Emma and Jacob find an undeniable connection to each other, yet their love is complicated and their future together unsure.
Now these are some Miss Peregrine shoes!
I can’t wait to read Riggs’ new book, Tales of the Peculiar (and Mafi’s new book, Furthermore, too!).
